Defi Wind 2023 – Sara Wennekes wins first title and new Severne gear hits the water
Defi Wind 2023 goes into the history books as the biggest windsurfing event the world has ever witnessed.
A whopping 1406 windsurfing enthusiasts, amateur racers, and pros alike gathered in Gruissan, a beautiful town located in the southeast of France to form the epicenter of windsurfing between the 18th and 21st of May.

Rookie Revolution Camp 2022

Aimed at up-and-coming young rippers looking to go next level on their skills, and based in one of the best windsurfing spots in Europe, the first edition of the Rookie Revolution Camp was a success.

Margaret River Wave Classic 2023 delivers nuclear winds followed by a classical sunset final session
Margaret River delivered nuclear winds followed by a classical sunset session for this year’s “Margaret River Wave Classic”.
Once again, local legend Scott McKercher @smiksup put together some insane rides to claim the win in the open fleet ahead of Bastian Escofet and Hendrix Stone.
The youth fleet was a tight battle between local grommets Jake @jake_ghiretti and Oliver @oliver.desforges . This time, Jake took the win with some impressive riding throughout the whole day.
Balz “Radiculo” Muller rides full Severne
One of the most influential riders of our time, and the instigator of the foilstyle movement, Balz “Radiculo” Müller, has been a staple of the Severne team for many years. You’ll now see Balz spinning up moves on both Severne boards and sails.
Margaret River Wave Classic 2023
The 2023 Margaret River Wave Classic in Western Australia will happen this year from January 26-29.
Severne is proud to support this year’s event, and to see competition wave action return to “margs”.
The Margaret River Wave Classic 2023 will go ahead as a IWT** tour stop.

René Egli Fuerteventura has offered world-class windsurfing holidays since 1984 and is considered the biggest centre worldwide. Situated right at the famous World Cup spot with a tidal lagoon, this spot offers outstanding wind statistics. The equipment is renewed annually, while rentals and courses are offered for all levels. Prasonisi Beach is the southernmost beach of Rhodes – the main island of the Dodecanese Island in Greece. Prasonisi Beach is famous for its excellent geographical location, strong and stable Meltemi winds, and unique coastline connecting two seas at one large sandy beach; the Aegean and the Mediterranean Sea. These characteristics make it one of the world’s most attractive and interesting places for windsurfing or wind foil, both at beginner and advanced levels.

2022 OBX-WIND is a success
OBX-WIND is on its path to become one of the major events in the US. This year, windsurfers from near and abroad got together to celebrate windsurfing, compete in long distance, freestyle, and in slalom. Severne team successful at PWA Croatia – Sara Wennekes takes the win, Matteo Iachino is third
The island of Bol in Croatia was the host of the first PWA slalom world cup of the year. The conditions switched on every day and provided for eight slalom eliminations in both women and men’s divisions.
For the Severne team, all riding on the new Mach 5 and HyperGlide 5 racing sails, it was successful, to say the least.
EFPT Freestyle returns to Vieste, Italy
From the 9 till the 12th of June the Freestyle scene was set by the Italian shores of the Adriatic sea. The town of Vieste was the host of the second EFPT tour stop of 2022.
With a good wind and wave forecast, high-end freestyle action was in the cards going into the event leading to high anticipation and expectations from all riders.
Defi Wind 2022 was one to remember

Lanzarote Foil Challenge 2022 – Mateus Isaac wins iQFOiL division, Amado Vrieswijk finishes second overall
The 2022 edition of the Lanzarote Foil Challenge was a true challenge. With winds gusting up to 30 knots on certain locations, the this years’ fleet weathered a large spectrum of conditions to complete the nearly 200km long journey. For the Severne team it was yet another successful journey with Mateus Isaac winning the iQFOiL fleet, as well as, finishing third overall. Amado Vrieswijk finished second overall.
Sebastian Kördel launches Flight School
Severne rider Sebastian Kördel is launching “Flight School”; a series of videos aimed at guiding beginners and experienced foilers alike. Mateus Isaac is 2021 South American Champion
The 2021 South American championship was held in Puerto Madryn in the south of Argentina.
20 races were completed over the course of four days with winds of various strengths, and from a variety of directions. Over 50 racers took part.

Luderitz Speed Challenge 2021 comes to an end – the score
The 2021 Luderitz Speed Challenge has come to an end. Using the new Mach5 Luderitz Speed Special, Bjorn Dunkerbeck hit a top speed of 103,68km/h (55,98 knots). Many other 51+ knots runs over 500 meters were recorded by the team throughout this years’ event.
