APEX

The APEX mast has an added fibreglass outer layer which makes it less susceptible to impact damage.
The Apex taper has smaller diameter mid-sections with increased wall thickness for increased reliability.

Alternating texture patterns in the boom area increases friction for less slippage. This eliminates the need to overtighten the boom, decreasing stresses on the mast.

No more than 10-15kg of pressure needs to be applied on the boom head lever for it to close.

FAQ

WHICH TYPE OF MAST SHOULD I BUY?

Ideally, you always pair the mast from the same brand as your sail, ensuring you get the perfect bend curve. All of the recommended masts are listed on all Severne sail product pages.

Another aspect to consider is the weight vs. price. A lighter mast will ease the sail handling, but increase its price.

The Severne RDM Red and RDM Blue are high-end masts, being the go-to mast for many of our customers.

The Gorilla mast is a value-oriented option that offers extreme durability at a very competitive weight. When compared to other masts with similar weight, not carbon percentage, Gorilla is the clear winner.

WHAT ARE THE CARBON PERCENTAGES OF ALL SEVERNE MASTS?

Severne masts are not measured in carbon percentage as there are many different types of carbon out there that differ in price and weight. Since weight is a far better and more significant indicator of the performance of a mast, we use this as our reference point.

For example, our Apex Pro 400, the highest-end mast type, comes in at 1,42 KG.

WHAT IS THE TOP AND BOTTOM FLEX OF SEVERNE MASTS?

Severne masts are designed with a specific Severne bend curve that remains one of the pillars of our rigs. We describe the curve of our mast as the Severne curve.

The constant, hardtop, or flex top curves that generic mast brands describe are based on measurements on 3 points. We measure our masts at 7 points minimum.

IF MY MAST BREAKS, IS IT COVERED BY WARRANTY?

Visit the warranties page for further information on mast warranties and the warranty claim guide.

CAN I BUY THE BOTTOM OR TOP PART OF A MAST SEPARATELY?

No, Severne the masts are built as one part on a ferrule and then cut in the middle.

WHAT SHOULD I DO WHEN MY MAST IS STUCK?

WHAT IS SLIPLOK?

Alternating texture patterns in the boom area increases friction for less slippage. This eliminates the need to overtighten the boom, decreasing stresses on the mast.

HOW HARD CAN I CLOSE THE BOOM HEAD LEVER?

No more than 10-15kg of pressure needs to be applied on the boom head lever for it to close.

Overtightening the boom head causes damage to your mast.
