S-1 _MANOEUVRE ORIENTED WAVE
The S-1 is the high performance 4 batten wave sail. The reduced batten count makes this sail light, flexible and responsive. Engineered for any type of conditions, this lightweight powerhouse redefines responsiveness. The S-1 has more back-hand pressure than the Blade, calibrated to go vertical or launch into aerial moves.
A fat head on the latest generation S-1 opens more under load to increase the performance envelope; more high-end control and wind range. The aspect ratio has been decreased on the smaller sizes to reduce twitchiness. Combined with the fatter head, the area distribution is more obvious.
The 025 S-1 utilises XFusion technology; ultrasonically welding the foot panels, negating the need for stitching. Lighter, more responsive, and no stitching to wear out. XFusion is an evolution of CarbonFusion technology used in the PRO sails that have trickled down to more accessible models.
Both the S-1 and S-1 Pro are developed on an identical platform. The PRO construction offers the ultimate experience while the S-1 replicates the dynamic performance in a more accessible construction.
Proprietary GRADIENT PANEL TECHNOLOGY reduces weight, increases strength, and controls stretch logically. Direct transmission of power. Increased longevity.
The S-1 is built using premium materials. The S-1 features quality materials including VX2, SpiderFibre, and eM4. The S-1 Pro is crafted in CARBON FUSION.
The S-1 is a manoeuvre-oriented wave sail to excel in waves from knee high to as big as they go.

TECHNOLOGY
VX2
VERTICAL XPLY 2.0MIL./ MATERIAL VX2 is a vertically oriented X-Ply featuring increased fibre density for stability and control, reduced film thickness for less weight, and our proven scrim layer for dependable durability. The 2 signifies the film thickness in mil./ ADVANTAGES. VX2 laminate significantly reduces deformation in the sail compared to eM3 material. The vertical stretch has been reduced by more than 20% whilst the horizontal stretch characteristics have increased fractionally to enhance the elastic springy feel that has defined the SV wave sails.MORE STABLE. MORE DURABLE. LESS WEIGHT.
GRADIENT PANEL TECHNOLOGY
The GRADIENT PANEL TECHNOLOGY logically reduces weight, increases strength and controls stretch. Overall weight is reduced but the more significant improvement is the feel – quicker reacting and lighter feel.Rather than a single curved luff panel, the S-1 uses separate panels that radiate out of the head and tack corners. This perfectly aligns the sail material with the direction of load. Previously the curved panel would have bias stretch in all the wrong places. Direct transmission of power. Increased longevity.
3&4 ROLLER TACK PULLEY
Roller tack pulleys are matched to the sails downhaul requirements and aligned for friction free downhauling and threading ease. Rig your sails with the Severne Hardware Division extensions for function and simplicity.
THERMOFORMED TACK FAIRING
Protects your board from impact and neatly covers the foot detailing. It incorporates the rope stash pocket for easy storage of your downhaul rope.
MOLDED SOFT EDGE
With recessed grooving, covering any vulnerable stitching the moulded soft edge encloses the hard edge long the foot of the sail and protects the stitching from wear along the board non-skid.
SPIDERFIBRE
A web of fibreglass filament that disburses loads across seams and throughout the body of the sail. By using stronger, lighter fibres and reducing sail patching, we can measurably reduce weight and swing weigh and at the same time, increase strength.
EM4 HIGH LOAD LAMINATE
Based on the proven eM3 platform, the high load eM4 material features twice the amount of X-Ply fibre and increased film thickness to maximise durability. This new material allows weight reduction whilst maintaining puncture resistance and tear strength. Used in the lower impact zone in the sail.
GRADIENT PANEL TECHNOLOGY
With the new GRADIENT PANEL TECHNOLOGY improvements are obvious. Lighter weight and better stability.
Using the new GRADIENT PANEL TECHNOLOGY. Corners have overlapped panels which reduces the amount of patching. At the same time these overlapped areas extend into the body of the sail so it transitions the load much better, will be less stretch over time. It’s a more stable way of building sails.
The GRADIENT PANEL TECHNOLOGY logically reduces weight, increases strength and controls stretch. Overall weight is reduced but the more significant improvement is the feel – quicker reacting and lighter feel.
Rather than a single curved luff panel, we use separate panels – split luff – that radiate out of the head and tack corners. This perfectly aligns the sail material with the direction of load.
Previously the curved panel would have bias stretch in all the wrong places. Direct transmission of power. Increased longevity.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE BLADE AND THE S-1?
The S1 is more manoeuvrable orientated, which means it has more backhand power that allows you to change your line more in the bottom turn and makes it easier to rotate through manoeuvres like wave 360.
The Blade is kept more neutral with more power in the front of the sail giving you a lot more control for both riding and jumping.
The S-1 has 4 battens.
The S-1 is maneuverable oriented sail.
The BLADE is full X-PLY, the S-1 features a monofilm window.
The S-1 is more powerful.
