PYRO _PRO WAVE

PHILIP KÖSTER PRO WAVE

Designed in collaboration with 5 x World Champion Philip Köster, the PYRO will ignite your fire.

The PYRO is fast, powerful, and versatile; sail it like Koster with twin fins for playful looseness. In a contest scenario, the improved early planing and better upwind ability of the thruster fin setup is the go. And then when the waves turn on, plug in the quad fins for down-the-line grip and reliability.

The latest iteration of the PYRO utilises clever paint and construction techniques to make it one of the lightest, most high-performing boards available. Each component and detail has been engineered for performance. Everything is premium. Philip does not accept second best.

In Philip’s own words:  I‘m stoked that my Pyro handles all conditions well – from 50-knot Pozo trying to beat my highest jumps to challenging Ho’okipa to get some of the most amazing rides”.

The PYRO is now fueled by NYCA fins; an injection-based technology utilising a specialised blend of thermoplastic polymer and carbon fibres. This blend not only offers resistance to abrasion but also the ideal rigidity for windsurfing performance.

Aggressive aesthetics. PK performance. SV attention to detail.

UPGRADES
/ Higher accuracy shape for better performance and maximum consistency.
/ Improved edges on tuck line.
/ Carbon fibre infusion fins.
/ Camo pads with optimised shape.

SIZES:  56 / 62 / 68 / 74 / 79 / 83 / 87 / 93 / 99 / 105 / 113

TECHNOLOGY

pointer

PARALLEL OUTLINE

The parallel outline decreases drag and increases stability. Overall width is reduced which helps give the boards a smaller, more manoeuvrable feel.

pointer

SINGLE CONCAVE

A single concave morphs into Vee through the tail, creating fast, low-drag rocker lines through the center of the board. Early to plane, and super quick.

pointer

FINS

With 5 slot-boxes, the Pyro is highly versatile and can be tuned to your personal preference and the conditions.

pointer

TUCKED RAIL

Put it on rail, and the 3D curves become quite different; the low rail through the single concave kicks up into the late Vee to create a surf-inspired rocker capable of big turns and mad hacks.

pointer

CAMO PADS

Optimised camo pads shape including a feathered transition between inner and outer layers

MINIMISED PAINT

PYRO utilises clever paint and construction techniques to make it one of the lightest, most high-performing boards available.

Fins

With 5 slot-boxes, the Pyro is highly versatile and can be tuned to your personal preference and the conditions.

Twin

The loosest option.  As a twin fin, the Pyro is super fun and maneuverable.  When it’s windy, and there’s some waves to play around in, then this setup is Philip’s everyday choice.

Thruster

With 3 fins, the Pyro gets up and going a bit earlier and better able to deal with strong currents and gusty conditions.

Quad

The most stable option.  When it’s big, and some extra grip is required,
a 4-fin setup is dependable and solid.

The HEX4 system makes it quick and easy to change fin setups – experiment and find what works best for you.

NYCA FINS

NYCA is an injection-based technology utilising a specialised blend of thermoplastic polymer and carbon fibres. This blend not only offers resistance to abrasion but also the ideal rigidity for windsurfing performance.

Carbon fibre content is added to create efficient active flex patterns, similar to traditional premium production methods.

NYCA fins are lighter and more durable than traditional G10 or RTM fins, with much higher strength and impact resistance. As a result, longevity is also upgraded, whether be it for hours on the water or impacts with shallow reefs.

NYCA wave fins

NYCA technology wave fins are precision manufactured for responsiveness. This latest innovation not only enhances drive and control but does so without compromising acceleration and top speed. This is achieved by maintaining the tried and proven blueprint that current SEVERNE wave fins are built on.

Front lateral fins
Crafted for optimal acceleration and drive, the lower section of these fins prioritizes maximum speed. With a relatively pronounced rake, narrow chord, and forward profile, more lift is produced while drag is minimised. Fast and efficient. The curved yet compact tips ensure a predictable engagement and release effect.

Rear lateral fins
Equipped with a wider base, the rear lateral fins provide essential stability. A moderate rake and a relatively narrow chord in the top section generate substantial drive. An enhanced surfing experience.

FAQ

WHAT IS THE RECOMMENDED/ALTERNATIVE FIN SETUP FOR THE PYRO?

The Pyro is designed to be suitable in TWIN, THRUSTER, and QUAD. These are all options that Philip Köster uses depending on wind/wave conditions.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE NANO AND THE PYRO?

The Nano is shorter, so it can fit tight in the pocket of any wave and carve hard.
The Nano requires more skill.
The Pyro is more versatile.
The Pyro planes earlier.
The Pyro is faster.
The Nano is exclusively a quad.
The Pyro offers different fin setups.

WHAT IS THE PANTONE COLOUR CODE FOR THE PYRO?

The pantone codes for the Pyro are Soul Red Crystal, 95% Fluor Red + 5% Bright Red and Warm Grey – 7527u.

DO I NEED TO REMOVE THE GORE-TEX AIR VENT BEFORE A FLIGHT OR WHILE TRAVELLING?

No! Do not touch or remove the “Goretex” air vent. The vent regulates the internal pressure of the board automatically.

IS IT REQUIRED TO REPLACE THE AIR VENT OVER TIME? HOW DO I REPLACE IT?

We recommend replacing it every 3 years. Find instructions on how to replace it in the product care section.

WHERE CAN I BUY SPARE PARTS FOR MY BOARD? (FOOTSTRAPS, SCREWS, AIR VENT)

You can order these parts at your nearest Severne dealer or distributor. Use the dealer locator to find your nearest dealer/distributor.

WHAT SIZE BOARD BAG DO I NEED?

WHERE I CAN BUY SEVERNE BOARDS?

Best is to contact the nearest dealer. Please use our dealer locator to find the closest one.

HOW DO I CHOOSE THE RIGHT BOARD?

Depending on your skills, weight, and wind conditions you aim to windsurf, different board sizes are recommended.
We suggest finding a dealer nearby to get the best advice.
You can also read this article about key important elements before you buy any board.

MY FOOTSTRAPS ARE TOO WIDE. CAN I MAKE THEM NARROWER?

You can rotate the plastic inserts at each end of your footstrap to decrease its width for a tighter fit, as demonstrated in this video.
