The third edition of the Lanzarote Foil Challenge was another explosive round of long distance action. As per usual, there were no dull moments as this year’s competitors crossed all corners of Lanzarote. Severne rider Adrien Mestre took the win in the open class.

With a promising forecast On hand and two European freestyle champions to be awarded, the Freestyle Pro Tour assembled a grand final event in Brouwersdam, Netherlands.
This year’s Gran Canaria world cup was a week-long windsurfing action reel covering wave, and slalom racing.
Not a single day was quiet during this year’s Gran Canaria World Cup. The first weekend delivered the near-perfect wave conditions we all see in magazine shots. Then followed three days of full-power slalom racing, only to have wave action return the following weekend to bookend an incredible event.
Nearly all podiums had Severne riders present. Amongst others, Daida Moreno won her 22nd Pozo title, and Blanca Alabau won her first-ever women’s slalom victory.
Defi Wind 2023 goes into the history books as the biggest windsurfing event the world has ever witnessed.
A whopping 1406 windsurfing enthusiasts, amateur racers, and pros alike gathered in Gruissan, a beautiful town located in the southeast of France to form the epicenter of windsurfing between the 18th and 21st of May.

The island of Bol in Croatia was the host of the first PWA slalom world cup of the year. The conditions switched on every day and provided for eight slalom eliminations in both women and men’s divisions.
For the Severne team, all riding on the new Mach 5 and HyperGlide 5 racing sails, it was successful, to say the least.
From the 9 till the 12th of June the Freestyle scene was set by the Italian shores of the Adriatic sea. The town of Vieste was the host of the second EFPT tour stop of 2022.
With a good wind and wave forecast, high-end freestyle action was in the cards going into the event leading to high anticipation and expectations from all riders.

The 2022 freestyle season has officially started. The Freestyle Pro Tour (FTP) just finalised its first event at Lake Neuseedl in Austria, and the Severne team occupied podium positions in both the women’s and men’s fleets.
After the return of Defi Wind Superstars in 2021, the full scale Defi Wind we all know is back, and will happen from May 26 to May 29. The Severne crew and the majority of the Severne team will be present throughout the whole event.
Severne reaches yet another milestone by introducing the new “Hydro” foil racing board into its fleet. With the introduction of the Hydro, new team riders like Mateus Isaac and Luuc Vanopzeeland will be pushing this board to its maximum on the racecourse around the world.
The 2022 edition of the Lanzarote Foil Challenge was a true challenge. With winds gusting up to 30 knots on certain locations, the this years’ fleet weathered a large spectrum of conditions to complete the nearly 200km long journey. For the Severne team it was yet another successful journey with Mateus Isaac winning the iQFOiL fleet, as well as, finishing third overall. Amado Vrieswijk finished second overall.

The 2021 South American championship was held in Puerto Madryn in the south of Argentina.
20 races were completed over the course of four days with winds of various strengths, and from a variety of directions. Over 50 racers took part.

The 2021 Luderitz Speed Challenge has come to an end. Using the new Mach5 Luderitz Speed Special, Bjorn Dunkerbeck hit a top speed of 103,68km/h (55,98 knots). Many other 51+ knots runs over 500 meters were recorded by the team throughout this years’ event.
The 2021 PWA world tour season has come to an end, and Amado Vrieswijk can call himself the 2021 freestyle World Champion. Maaike Huvermannn is vice world champion. But that’s not all.
The 2021 Luderitz Speed Challenge is already producing top speeds. After a few weeks of action, Gunnar Asmussen leads the rankings and Bjorn Dunkerbeck is moving closer to the top. Both are riding 022 Mach5 speed edition.
The 2021 version of Defi Wind was yet another success with the completion of “Defi Wind Superstars”. After seven races, Blanca Alabau came out on top. Matteo Iachino finished fourth.
After a long period of absence, the Defi Wind is back in a special edition format from October 29th until November 5th. It won’t be the Defi Wind everyone is used to, but will be run as a “Defi Wind Superstars” where amateur racers can battle for the top positions to be able to go up against the superstars who are already seeded into a main event.
Speed sailing is officially back on the map with the successful completion of “Prince Of Speed” in La Palme, France. Matteo Iachino came out on top with a 43.51 knot run on the 500m course among many other high scoring runs.

a 200km+ race around the island of Lanzarote. The Severne crew followed riders Sebastian Kördel and Mateus Isaac on the whole trip with a camera. This is the full story based on both Sebastian’s and Mateus’s accounts of that day.
The yearly Rookie Cup at Brouwersdam, Netherlands was a blast, even without wind. The winner took the prize of a full season rookie class pass for the 2021 season sponsored by Severne.
After a summer break, the European Freestyle Pro Tour just completed probably their most spectacular event of the season so far. The Greek island of Rhodos was the host and the conditions didn’t dissapoint; neither did the Severne team with victories across all divisions.
Engadinwind 2021 at lake Silvaplana, Switzerland was one to remember; multiple big events packed into one “Foil Mania” festival. This years’ was the birth place of the new Severne Predator foil freestyle board, and also where the first ever official iQFOiL world champions were crowned. But that’s not all. Balz Muller won the foil freestyle world championships, and Lennart Neubauer won the EFPT tow-in championship.
After the first official iQFOiL Youth & Junior event took place on Lake Garda in Italy, it is evident that this new class offers unrivalled access to the world of foil racing for kids and youth riders.
Racing is back in Germany, and the German Championships on the island of Sylt could once again be held after a year without too much action. Severne rider Sebastian Kördel won both the racing and slalom disciplines. Gunnar Asmussen took third place in the racing discipline.
Young racers from all across the world will take part in the first ever iQFOiL Junior & Youth World Championships. To get some more insights, we did a Q&A with class manager Gonzalo Costa Hoevel.
Slalom, course racing and marathon racing were all on the program for the 2021 edition of the iQFOiL Garda International Games. The French team dominated in both the women’s and mens fleet.

The postponed 2020 Formula Foil Europeans was held on the Azores February 1-6. Severne rider took second place after 15 races completed. Severne caught up with Sebastian for a chat about his first event of the year and first event riding with Severne sails.
