Foil racing in Singapore
The first-ever Singapore Wind Foil Nationals was concluded on October 4th 2020 and was a major success. The 2-day event was hosted at Aloha Sea Sports Centre and organized by Singapore Sailing Federation.
A total of 4 course races and 8 slalom sprint races were held almost back to back on the first day 3rd October 2020, with consistent winds of 7-14 knots throughout the day. No races were held on the second day due to insufficient winds.
There was a great turnout of participants of varying ages including the Singapore National Youth iQFOiL training squad as well as some seniors on the iQFOiL equipment.
The wind foiling scene is growing rapidly in Singapore as ex-windsurfers are coming back to race on wind foils and new people are joining the sport. The organisers are already working with the Singapore Sailing Federation to bring more wind foil events to Singapore in the future.
Starboard and Severne merchandises were awarded for 5 the following categories – Formula Foil Grand Master, Formula Foil Master, Formula Foil Youth, Formula Foil Women and Formula Foil Open.
