TAKUMI MORIYA
THE LOWDOWN
Born and raised in Japan, Takumi Moriya discovered windsurfing at six through his father’s passion for the sport. Local freestylers at Lake Hamana inspired him to push limits; by nine, he was hooked on freestyle.
At 18, Takumi has claimed multiple JWA Freestyle Championships, the PWA Freestyle U-20 World Title, and a breakthrough fourth-place finish in Fuerteventura 2025. His performance equals the best individual result by a Japanese sailor, marking his arrival as Japan’s leading force on the PWA tour.
When Lake Hamana goes flat, Takumi drives hours to find wind and waves. That commitment shows in his results.
