AMADO VRIESWIJK
THE LOWDOWN
My passion for windsurfing started after seeing the “King of the Caribbean” Event on Bonaire in 2002. My parents rented me a board and a 2.1 sail and I was gone with the wind, ever since I enjoyed my time on the water.
I learned very fast, and after 4 months of practice, I competed in my first windsurf competition. Starting with slalom events (IFCA), but the focus changed quickly to freestyle. I joined the PWA in 2011 and could score many top 5 results over the years but the icing on the cake was the World title in 2021. With that title in the pocket, I returned to slalom (fin/foil) and the IQFoil discipline.
With much training in the gym, gaining weight, and continuing to dedicate my time on the water with testing and tuning, my next goal is a slalom title.
Love to travel to new places to gain new experiences and meet friends with the same passion !! Windsurfing is my life … Windsurfing gives me a kick, adrenaline and a sense of the ultimate freedom!
