Action from start to finish.
A trip that started as an idea at a World Cup on the German island of Sylt became reality a month after and turned out to be a trip to remember. After not having traveled together since 2016, Severne riders Amado Vrieswijk & Dieter Van der Eyken teamed up once again on a training mission to Brazil known for its consistent trade winds.
The end result is an action packed video clip boasting massive moves from start to finish!
Although it wasn’t the classic strong winds and the usual Jericoacara conditions, breakfasts at Wind Jeri never tasted better and the easy going beach life was a perfect end of another year on tour. A season that saw 2 event wins for Amado and two top 5 finishes for Dieter.
Spots visited during the trip were Maceo, Tatajuba & Jericoacara itself during their 2,5 week trip.
2015 Freestyle World Champion Dieter Van der Eyken reports
“ I used to do quite a few trips with Amado in the past to either train with him on Bonaire where I always stayed at his parents place or in Europe when we went for events & training together when he had a few days in the Netherlands. However the last 2 years we haven’t really been able to do this anymore as I moved towards Tenerife & after a good year on tour in Freestyle Amado got me pretty motivated to do a Freestyle trip again together.
It’s incredible to see where he takes Freestyle in the right conditions and although I’m just playing catch up and get frustrated at some tricks it was good to rediscover what I loved about Freestyle. It was a great way to end the year and for the first time in 4 years actually spend some real time Training Freestyle, even though it was only for 2 weeks. “
2x Vice world champion and European Champion Amado Vrieswijk comments
“During the World Cup on Sylt, Dieter and I shared the accommodation and we started talking about a possible trip together again. We’ve been friends for over ten years and in the past we travelled a lot together & I believe it would be nice to pick this up again.
I suggested Brazil as this destination was already on my wish list for November, during this period the winds on Bonaire always are very light in the rain-season so it is better to chase the wind somewhere else. My last trip to Brazil was in 2016 and it’s a fantastic freestyle-vacation.
From there we started planning and went to Jericoacara for 2.5 weeks of which we spent a lot of time on the water of course , but also had some parties and just chilling with good vibes with all the different windsurfers around. All the different sessions delivered good footage for a nice video & Presence Pura is the final result. For sure another trip to remember and travelling with Dieter is always fun so I expect to do it again in the near future.”
Dieter and Amado want to thank everyone ones more for filming : Felix Volkhardt , Fransesco Cappuzo & Julien Robinet (drone footage) .
