First time on the speed course and a near victory
The “Prince Of Speed” event just wrapped up in La Palme, France. This spot is a well-known location for speed sailors who regularly visit the local La Franqui beach for some serious speed sailing.
After a long holding period, the event got called on by the prospect of classical speed conditions with over 40 knots of winds forecasted.
First-time speed sailor and Severne rider Matteo Iachino nearly took the victory, only surpassed by Antoine Albeau who beat Matteo by 0.4 knots.
The format was a classical 500m speed course with the best average taking the win. Matteo used a combination of the Mach 3 Luderitz edition sails as well as Mach 4 prototypes along with Apex Pro masts and the Enigma 160/170 booms.
The final result
1st Antoine Albeau FRA 192 : 44.98kts
2nd Matteo Iachino ITA 140 : 44.54kts
3rd Vincent Valkenaers: Bel 62: 43.92kts
