Back in Dakhla
Team SEVERNE’s Oda Johanne returned to Morocco’s Dakhla for another intensive training block; the Norwegian freestyle specialist continuing her annual pilgrimage to what she considers the ultimate development ground.

“For me it’s the number one place to improve freestyle,” Oda says. “When the tide is low, the wind is so consistent, and you’re sailing right next to the sandbank. The water gets perfectly flat, giving you that extra speed that makes every maneuver even more fun.“
The desert conditions proved ideal for progression. Daily sessions on the Freek 4.0 allowed Oda to keep moving the goal post in Dakhla’s trademark flat water. “I absolutely love the new model,” she says. “It’s so easy for ducking, and it has amazing whip when you go for the power moves.“
Three seasons of Dakhla training have established the location as essential to Oda’s training program. The consistent Saharan thermals, combined with the lagoon’s protected waters, create conditions that are hard to find elsewhere.
