A DECADE OF SPEED
THE DUNKERBECK SPEED CHALLENGE (DSC) CELEBRATES ITS 10TH ANNIVERSARY IN 2025 – A DECADE OF PUSHING THE BOUNDARIES OF WHAT’S POSSIBLE ON THE WATER.
Created by 42-time World Champion and long-time SEVERNE team rider Björn Dunkerbeck, the DSC has become the benchmark for accessible, global speed competition. Over 5,000 riders worldwide have joined the challenge since its inception. Here are some insights into this year’s challenge and how you can join from anywhere in the world.
Accessibility king
“Windsurfing keeps me young!” says Bjorn, echoing his father’s philosophy that supports the entire DSC concept. This accessibility-first approach has created one of windsurfing’s most inclusive competitions, with participants ranging from under 10 to over 70 years of age.
The competition’s brilliant format allows riders to compete from any location worldwide. Three distinct periods throughout the year give competitors multiple opportunities to post their best 250-meter runs.

THE LOWDOWN
The most sustainable speedsurfing concept in existence runs across three distinct periods:
- PERIOD 1: 01.04 – 31.05.2025 | Gran Canaria DSC
- PERIOD 2: 01.07 – 31.08.2025 | The Summer Edition
- PERIOD 3: 01.10 – 30.11.2025 | The Third
No travel required. Just pure speed obsession at your local spot.
THE SETUP
Compete across disciplines:
- SPEEDSAILING FIN: www.gps-speedsurfing.com
- SPEEDSAILING FOIL: www.gps-foilsurfing.com
- SPEEDSAILING WING: www.gps-wingfoiling.com
All periods count toward the overall ranking. Zero entry fee – just bring a mate and get on it.
THE INTEL
The upgrade this year? WATERSPEED APP integration with GPS-Speedsurfing.com – now available for both Apple Watch and Android. Seamless session uploads, global competition tracking, and advanced analytics at your fingertips.
