Single-piece NYCA construction
Clamp and mast cup integrated into one component. No join between them, which is where the flex used to be.
U-shaped geometry
A two-piece clamp has to bend to go onto the mast, which limits how stiff the material can be. HeadLock mounts without flexing, so significantly stiffer material can be used throughout. This is the hotspot the whole design hangs off.
Hollow-point bolts
Re-engineered for weight: 20% lighter than the bolts they replace.
Red anodized spacers
Prevent overtightening while maintaining clamping force.

FAQ
WHICH ENIGMA SIZES COME WITH HEADLOCK?
HeadLock is fitted from 130-170 through to 180-230.
The 30mm race sizes (190-240, 210-250 and 240-290) continue with the LockJaw front end.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE LOCKJAW AND THE HEADLOCK VERSION?
The latest generation Enigma boom underwent major upgrades that compared to previous models, include;
– new stiffer and lighter boom head
– lighter weight
– more stiffness
– new grip
HOW DO I TIGHTEN AND USE THE ROPE ON THE BOOM TAIL END?
The Enigma Wave and Freeride booms work with a loop and go system. On the Enigma Slalom models it is possible to either install an adjustable outhaul system, which will need to be ordered separately or mount the special metal backend for the loop and go.
WHAT SIZE ENIGMA SHOULD I BUY?
This very much depends on which sail sizes you use. ALL Severne sails have a recommended boom suggestion on their respective size chart on our website.
DO I NEED TO BUY AN ADJUSTABLE OUTHAL KIT?
Yes, the adjustable outhaul kit is ordered separately. The best is to contact your closest Severne dealer for this. Use the dealer locator to find your nearest dealer/distributor.
SHOULD THE BOOM HEAD ROTATE?
Over time the boom head can loosen a bit due to usage. One way to avoid this as much as possible is to always store the boom without moving the boom head flat. If you do feel it’s getting too loose you can take off the boom head and add 1 or 2 new layers of carbon around the boom itself at the front to make it tighter.
It’s important to note that a loose boom head won’t result in a broken boom over time.
DOES THE DIAMETER GIVEN IN THE SPECS ALSO COVER THE GRIP?
No, it doesn’t include the boom grip.

CAN I USE THE RDM MAST WITH THE SDM CUP?
Yes, you do not need any additional shim, just adjust a rope to tighten it enough on the mast.

HOW TIGHT SHOULD I MOUNT THE BOOM HEAD?
You should not apply more than 10-15kg of pressure on the end of the lever for it to close. This can be done with two fingers
