Here’s some great news coming in from the world of foil racing. Severne rider Amado Vrieswjk, just clinched the IFCA Slalom Foil World Championship title, leaving the competition in his wake. By the looks of it, it was a very mixed bag of what were on offer at St. Peter Ording, Germany. It was nothing that phased the 2023 PWA Vice World Champion as he comfortably took the win in four out of six races. Let’s dive into the nitty-gritty with the man himself.
SV: What gear did you use?
Amado Vrieswjk: Hyper 7 9.0 and 8.0

SV: How were the conditions and how did you manage to take the win?
Amado Vrieswjk: We had all kinds of conditions .. light wind ( 6-10 knots ) strong current, flat water powered up conditions and the hardest was the last day on 8.0 average 20 knots with big swell and lots of current. I managed to win 4 of the 6 races .. and with 2 discards I had a clean sheet
SV: What are your plans now?
Amado Vrieswjk: Driving to Holland at the moment, have a week’s rest, and fly to Fuerteventura on the 23rd to start the PWA freestyle event and get ready for the slalom event the week after.
