The 025 wave sail range builds on the wealth of technology that has defined the Severne brand for decades. 

For 025 we introduce XFusion technology – ultrasonically welded Xply panels in the foot area that eliminate stitching for unparalleled strength, responsiveness, and durability. 

Our latest high-end construction, CarbonFusion, is an alternate take on load-path technology. An extremely warp oriented Carbon, Dyneema, and Technora laminate align with the loads in the sail and is then ultrasonically welded together to create an ultralight, ultra responsive skin. Elastic stretch is isolated to where it can effectively turn the sail into a spring that can load up for explosive release. Featured on the S-1 Pro and Blade Pro, CarbonFusion delivers pro-level performance.

The ideology behind CarbonFusion has now trickled down to Blade and S-1 sails with XFusion, increasing the performance envelope on both models.

XFUSION TECHNOLOGY

XFusion is an evolution of the CarbonFusion technology that has trickled down to more accessible models.

Stitching a sail involves puncturing the material with hundreds of holes. The XFusion methodology consists of ultrasonically welded Xply panels in the foot area of the sail.

The main advantages of XFusion are;

  • A stronger sail. Stitching involves puncturing the material with hundreds of holes.
  • No stitching to wear out.  Smooth surface in the vulnerable foot area.
  • More responsive.  The stitching holes increase the stretch in the material, and the thread is tensioned, which shortens the seam.  When the sail inflates with wind there’s a delay as the seam stretches to its full length. Welding has no such issue – the entire panel reacts instantly.
  • Lighter – no seam tape or stitching.

XFusion is used on both 025 Blade and S-1 sails.

I love the variety of condition that the S-1 works in; from full power jumping to light wind riding only. The backhand pressure allows me to always gain lots of speed on the wave and give me the extra power I need for powerful turns.
