9th Vietnam Fun Cup 2008![]() On the 22 and 23 of February the 9th Vietnam Cup took place at the Jibe?s Windsurfing Centre in Mui Ne. The wind was pretty light while the two days of racing, but the organisation decided to run a one jibe race with running starts from the beach. In the men?s final a figure 8 slalom was sailed. The wind was in between 3 and 10 knots, but allowed the light competitors from Asia to plan even in this super light conditions. Chris Pressler, Starboard/Severne teamrider, took place in the race and made it up into the final l: "It was a super hard race against the exraordinary early planing Vietnamese sailors. I was happy to make it on the 5th in the end. But it was fun getting the GO 166 into planning with my Code Red 6.7. But if you compete in a race like this, you can?t win in using the same gear like your opponents." Nguyen Thanh Dong from Vietnam could win the final run and a designer watch from N.O.A. In the women?s class Kerstin Reiger accelerated her Carve 122, powered up on a Gator 6,0. "I was fast in sailingposition after good starts over the shorebreak and could manage to jibe quite safe at the outside mark. It?s great to win the Funcup. I did not expect to win the event!!
