Brazilian FE championship / South-Brazilian FW Championship

Last weekend, FE sailors from Brazil competed for the II Brazilian National Championships in Balneário Camboriú, Santa Catarina state. All geographical regions were represented on the event with sailors from 8 states.

After 8 races, Wellington Almeida took his second title finishing ahead of the local sailor Dudu Schumacher and Luiz Nogueira, from Brasilia. Sérgio Gama won at Masters' division and Dudu was the champion on juniors' division. The results couldn't be fairer as there were three days of intense competition with winds between 8 to 25 + knots blowing from a different direction every day.

On Saturday night the fleet came back early from the party to work on the equipment until 2 a.m., taking all the boards out of the event tent that was flying away on the storm onshore winds! No damage on the super strong FE Tufskin boards and equipment.

The FE class is growing fast in Brazil. The rules of the FE make the class perfect for weekenders who want to race and beginners who are looking forward to compete at FW class. The allowed equipment is cheaper but offer impressive performance at the same wind range of FW equipment. On the same event there was a division for FW sailors competing for the South-Brazil Regional Championship. Most of the sailors, including the winner Marcello Morrone competed in FW with the FE equipment.

All winners were on Starboard Formula Experience 160 Tufskin and Severne OverDrive sails.

Our goal is to have 70 sailors at the starting line on next year's Nationals!
